Free Windows DAW

Record the future.

A recording studio on your own computer. Record, arrange, mix, and play with someone else. Fully free means the songs you release too: there is no fee, no account, and the music you make is yours.

Latest Windows build. Unzip the folder and run Studio 4000.exe.

The studio

Welcome, arrangement, and mixer
Arrangement. Audio, instrument, bus, and FX-return tracks. Move, Time, Split, Slip, and Erase sit on the toolbar.
Mixer. Faders stay the same height. Type a dB value, or double-click a fader to put it back at 0 dB.
Editor. Open a clip and set gain, pan, fades, and pitch next to the arrangement.

On this computer

Smart Mix does the first pass.

Gain, balance, vocal ducking, and a loudness target, as one undo step. It stays on your machine. You can still move every fader after.

A room code

Play it with someone else.

One person hosts, the other joins with the code. Voice and screen share are there. Having the app does not put anyone in your session.

Off until you turn it on

Bring your own model.

The assistant stays off until you add your own key. Studio 4000 does not charge for that key, and it does not keep it.

When the song is ready

Export the mix, or the stems.

A stereo file through the master, or one file per track. Pick the loudness and leave. Then take it to AKAsheet if you want it in front of people.

EffectsBuilt-in processors, a parametric EQ, Airwindows, and your own VST3 plug-ins. Drag the chain, open a few at once.
InstrumentsA piano roll and the computer keyboard. Loop recording, takes, and comping are on the audio side.
It updates itselfOnline, the app checks the public project when it opens and replaces itself when a newer build is published.

Take the latest build.

The button always downloads the newest Windows zip from the public project. Unzip it and run Studio 4000.exe.
